Fiscal Sponsorship For Non-profits

Dalit Solidarity has  been a nonprofit and tax-exempt organization with 501(c)(3) status since 2000. We are also a BBB (Better Business Bureau) accredited charity and a member of San Diego Chamber of Commerce. Stewardship is an integral part of everything we do — because we recognize that every resource entrusted to us can transform the communities. We would like to offer fiscal sponsorships to organizations who are without tax-exempt status to support their charitable activities and programs.

Fiscal Sponsorship is often used by newly formed nonprofits that need to raise money during the start-up phase, before they are recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS.

We welcome applications from any project from any organization that aligns with our mission. We value their contribution and support their initiatives without any interruption. For the last twenty years, we have enjoyed the public trust in carrying out our programs to the poor and the marginalized communities both in India and in the US. Through our fiscal sponsorships, we can support charities to focus on their mission without being overburdened of administrative and financial matters.

We are currently working with four organizations as their fiscal sponsors and making difference in various communities around the world. Being a public charity, we would like to reach out to many more organizations in supporting their goals towards the underprivileged communities.  We  can also ensure that  compliance is of most importance and help them with right business decisions.

What we do as fiscal sponsors?

The role of the fiscal sponsor can include performing many different administrative functions on behalf of the sponsored organization or program, including taking on the responsibility of receiving and administering charitable contributions on behalf of the sponsored organization. Some fiscal sponsors do a lot more, such as performing back-office functions. Our services will include auditing, book keeping/accounting, Insurance, legal services, organizational development, receiving property and stock donations, online donations and tax-reporting. We also acknowledge donations and issue receipts for their tax-deductions.

Administrative Fee

It is quite common and perfectly acceptable for the fiscal sponsor to charge an administrative fee for its services, which is usually a percentage of the budget of the sponsored organization or program.  Our fees for fiscal sponsorship typically fall within the range of 5% to 10% of the project budget. This fee is based on the nature and complexity of the project, and the specific services that will be provided. The fee and the services being provided will be clearly described in the Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement. We are open for negotiations.
